Agreed. But I don't think this is a one-off; I think there's a
perception out there that implants are 100% effective, and last forever.
It's not me giving patients this idea. Where are they getting it from?

LOL!

"Long lasting" might be more appropriate.

"Lifetime" might fit if the patient is elderly or has a
terminal illness.

But 'permanent' is not a word I would use for any dental restorative
treatment.
